Nike has indeed released $900 workout shoes that offer both compression and heating. These are called the Nike x Hyperice Hyperboot, a collaboration with recovery technology company Hyperice.
Key features of the Hyperboot include:
* Heat and Compression: The shoes incorporate both Hyperice's Normatec dynamic air-compression massage and Hyper Heat technology. This means they have air bladders that inflate to provide rhythmic compression and embedded heating elements that distribute warmth.
B
* Warm-up and Recovery: The Hyperboot is designed for both "pre-covery" (warming up before a workout) and post-workout recovery. The combination of heat and compression aims to loosen tight muscles, enhance circulation, and make feet and ankles feel "lighter" and "freer."
* Adjustable Settings: Users can choose from three levels of heat (ranging from 111°F to 125°F) and three levels of compression (50 mmHg to 210 mmHg) via buttons on the shoes or through the Hyperice mobile app.
* Portability: Unlike traditional stationary recovery systems, the Hyperboot is designed to be worn on the go, allowing athletes to warm up or recover while mobile.
* Battery Life: Each shoe is powered by a discreet battery in the insole, offering 1 to 1.5 hours of use at maximum settings or up to 8 hours with compression only. They charge via USB-C.
* Availability: The Hyperboot was released on May 17, 2025, and is available through Nike, Hyperice, and other retailers.
While the technology is praised for its effectiveness by some elite athletes, the $899 retail price makes it a luxury item, and some argue that its practical value for typical users is limited compared to more affordable recovery methods.
